SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41

Recognizing the public service of the Honorable David E. Miller.

Whereas, The Honorable David E. Miller was born September 8, 1945, the son of David W. and Marie L. Miller; and
Whereas, The Honorable David E. Miller received his education at Fairmont State College, where he earned a bachelor of science degree, and the University of Virginia, where he earned a master of education degree; and
Whereas, The public service of the Honorable David E. Miller began with his election to the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1988. He was reelected in 1990 and 1992; and
Whereas, The Honorable David E. Miller was appointed to the West Virginia Senate by Governor Gaston Caperton on September 27, 1993, and was subsequently elected to the Senate from the fourteenth senatorial district in 1994; and
Whereas, During his tenure in the Senate, the Honorable David E. Miller has served as chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee; as vice chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee; and as a member of the Senate Committees on Government Organization; the Judiciary; Labor; and Natural Resources; and
Whereas, The dedication, wisdom and legislative expertise of the Honorable David E. Miller is evidenced by a myriad of worthwhile enactments, conceived and executed by him for the betterment of the citizens of the State of West Virginia; and
Whereas, The Honorable David E. Miller plans to resign from the West Virginia Senate in order to continue his public service to the citizens of West Virginia as deputy commissioner of the Department of Agriculture. He brings to an end seven years of devoted public service to the citizens of the State of West Virginia and will be missed by his fellow colleagues in the Senate; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate of West Virginia hereby extends its heartfelt appreciation and best wishes to the Honorable David E. Miller; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Honorable David E. Miller.
